Ingredients
For the Crispy Chicken:
1 lb Chicken breast or thighs, cut into strips
1 cup Buttermilk (for marinating)
1 ½ cups All-purpose flour
1 tsp Garlic powder, Onion powder, and Paprika
Salt & Pepper to taste
Vegetable oil for frying
For the Fluffy Waffles:
2 cups All-purpose flour
1 tbsp Baking powder
2 tbsp Sugar
2 Large eggs
1 ½ cups Milk
½ cup Melted butter
1 tsp Vanilla extract
Instructions
1. Prepare the Chicken
Marinate: Soak the chicken in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.
Coat: In a bowl, mix flour with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Dredge each piece of chicken in the flour mixture until fully coated.
Fry: Heat oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C). Fry the chicken for 5–7 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
2. Make the Waffles
Dry & Wet Mix: Whisk the dry ingredients in one bowl. In another, whisk the eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla.
Combine: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined (don’t overmix!).
Cook: Pour the batter into a preheated waffle iron and cook until golden and crisp.
3. Assembly
Place two crispy chicken strips on top of a fresh waffle. Drizzle generously with warm maple syrup or honey. For an extra kick, add a dash of hot sauce!
